Semi-low loaders are semi-trailers pulled by a tractor unit, with a distinctive ‘gooseneck’ at the front end which lowers the trailer’s loading deck. The deck is normally at the height of the rear wheels, unlike on a full low-loader where the main portion of the loading deck is below the rear wheel height.
There are many reasons why semi-low loaders may be the preferred option, as they provide a consistent deck height from the gooseneck all the way to the rear. In many heavy haulage operations, this larger flat area is more important than maximising the height clearance.
Chris Bennett Heavy Haulage have several semi-low loaders in our fleet, including 35-tonne 3/4-axle and 60-tonne 4/5-axle power-steered semi-low loaders. These can be extended in length from around 30 feet to 48 feet and 85 feet respectively.
Like our low-loaders, these are some of the biggest beasts in our fleet, and may require special arrangements with the police and local authorities to transport heavy goods via the public road network. We can make these arrangements, as well as providing steersmen and escort vehicles along the entire route.
Some of the semi-low loaders in our heavy haulage fleet include:

- 35 tonnes – extends from 29ft to 48ft
Power Steered 4 & 5 Semi Low Loader
