We are now starting to see the true scale of that iceberg as restrictions on freedom of movement due to Brexit and COVID-19 lockdowns have impacted the availability of qualified road haulage drivers in the UK.
This is creating road haulage bottlenecks combined with an additional lack of qualified drivers due to more stringent qualifications and a high retirement rate in the sector.

A Silver FORS accredited haulage company
Chris Bennett (Heavy Haulage) Ltd are proud to be a Silver FORS accredited haulage company under the Fleet Operator Recognition Scheme.
This is run by TfL, as well as major London construction projects like Tideway and Crossrail, and focuses particularly on hauliers who operate in London.
Being a FORS accredited haulier means we are certified as meeting the very high operational and safety standards required under the scheme.
We were one of the first to be awarded Silver FORS accreditation, allowing us to serve customers and delivery destinations across London.
Although the recognition is based solely on our activities in the capital, we hope it also provides confidence to our customers about the very high standards of our haulage operations nationwide.
A fully featured fleet
Our fleet is well equipped with low loaders, mobile cranes, beavertails, articulated and rigid flatbeds, our 7.5-tonne tautliner and all the appropriate escort vehicles.
Crucially in the current climate, we have no shortage of drivers for our vehicles, so we are in a strong position to meet the needs of new and existing customers.
