For many construction contracts, the basis of a safe and secure building is the underpinning. This is achieved with the use of large machines known as piling rigs. These huge pieces of equipment are bread and butter to the experienced drivers of the Chris Bennett (Heavy Haulage) low loaders. Often weighing in at around 100 tonnes, carrying these machines is a specialised job. Their movement has to be planned in advance with the use of movement orders and notifications, routes need to be planned, taking into consideration weight restrictions and low bridges and the load requires an escort vehicle and a drivers’ mate. Our transport team will ensure that this is organised with the minimum of fuss and inconvenience to yourselves, which in turn allows your piling rig to maximise its’ operational time. Our fleet of low loader trailers, utilising up to seven axles including an interdolly help to maximise the weight we can carry by spreading the load across the axles.
