Low loaders are a category of road haulage vehicles designed for transporting tall loads. With an extremely low deck height compared with other trailers, they help heavy haulage to comply with legal limits and to navigate routes with streetlamps, overhead signs and bridges.
The deck drops in front of the rear wheels and all the way to the front end where it joins with the articulated cab. This maximises the usable length of the deck, which in many cases is extendable from 24 feet to as much as 40 feet.
Chris Bennett Heavy Haulage have several low loaders including three-axle, four-axle and five-axle configurations. If we think your cargo could benefit from being transported via low loader, we can recommend the best trailer for the job.
Low loaders are normally used to transport industrial equipment and vehicles like bulldozers and excavators, which cannot be reduced in height. Our low loaders can legally carry items up to 12 feet tall (3.66 metres) as standard.
For very large loads, we have a two-axle interdolly, which allows us to create a low loader configuration with a total of seven axles. This can be used for heavy plant, piling rigs and construction machinery.
As part of our road haulage service, we can liaise with police and local authorities on abnormal load movements, as well as providing steersmen and escort vehicles to accompany your cargo en route.
Our standard low loaders include the following options:
3 Axle Extendable Low Loader
- Extendable from 24ft to 40ft
- With a payload up to 45 tonnes
4 Axle Extendable Low Loader
- Extendable from 24ft to 40 ft
- With a payload up to 60 tonnes
5 Axle Extendable Low Loader
- Extendable from 24ft to 40 ft
- With a payload up to 60 tonnes
